FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
World Record Paraglider flight two days from St. John's goal.
September 1st, 2009 - Norris Arm, NF
- Benjamin Jordan is following his dreams and breaking a world record while flying a powered paraglider 10,000 km across Canada to raise money to send kids to camp.
Less than a two day flight from his 10,000 km goal, Benjamin Jordan will launch his paraglider from a small field in Norris Arm, Newfoundland at 7:30 AM and continue eastward. Exactly how much ground he will cover will depend largely on the day's winds. With a stiff Southwest in the forecast, he expects challenges heading South to St. John's once reaching the coast.
Weather permitting, he hopes to land at a YMCA camp just North of St John's before sundown. He and his support team will complete their final youth presentation and aerial formation photograph the following morning (Sept 3). From there he will make his final flight into the St. John's area planning to arrive well before noon. Please call on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning for exact times and landing location.
Formation photographs from schools and camps across Canada are being featured in a book and sold to benefit the charities of each province. ABOVE+BEYOND has teamed up with the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign in Newfoundland to ensure that kids all over the province get to experience the wonder of summer camp, regardless of their family's financial state.
